Our Story

Sometimes love takes the scenic route.&nbsp; We first met in 2005, neighbors in the same neighborhood, sharing a bus route and an easy, natural friendship. Life had its own rhythm then, and when one of us moved away in 2007, we said goodbye, never expecting anything more than a sweet chapter in the past. But seventeen years later, a simple “hi” on Facebook changed everything.&nbsp; That easy, natural friendship came back. Life had changed for both of us since, and we found each other in a way that felt like pure kismet. What started as a catch-up quickly became something deeper. Despite the miles between Boston and&nbsp;Albuquerque, our connection only grew stronger. Our first “date” was seven hours over Zoom: same recipe, two kitchens, laughter that never stopped. Even from afar, it felt like we were already beginning something lasting and true. We met again in person in Chicago. If Terminal 1 had security footage, it might still hold the moment of our first embrace after 17 years.&nbsp; The city became our halfway point, and then, somehow, the heart of our story. Fifteen months later, we closed the distance and began building a life side by side, back in the city where we first met.&nbsp; Three years after that first Chicago reunion, we returned. At the top of the ferris wheel on Navy Pier, with the skyline glittering behind us and close friends secretly filming, Carlos popped the question. And through tears, laughter, and so much joy, the answer was an enthusiastic YES! Later that night, another surprise: the kids, flown in from Albuquerque, were waiting to celebrate with us.&nbsp; It was love in every direction. What started as a friendship on the bus all those years ago became the love story we never saw coming, but one for which we feel endlessly grateful every single day.
