ROB: Every year, Vanessa and I go on a road trip and go see family.  We take the time to also venture out to other destinations.  We never have an exact plan and often sidetrack.  This past road trip was not set that way. Vanessa didn't know at the time, but the proposal was months in the making. Before hand, I had planned everything; I had a whole itinerary planned out without Vanessa knowing.
VANESSA: I love our random road trips. We get to go to places we see on TV and try some great food items (I watch Diners Drive-Ins and Dives, Good Eats, Bring Fido Apps etc. ) We detoured to ride a fan boat, see the dinosaur exhibit, Rock and mineral Show, go to a Gun range in Nashville and enjoy dog beaches and dog water parks "I always say it's Darwin's vacation too!"
ROB: After Easter at my Grandmother's we drove straight down to Disney (Vanessa just thought Florida) I told her I had booked a hotel in Florida near Disney for that day.   Her immediate reaction was to say, "I don't know if we should go, its getting late." We had a conversation about what I wanted to do, without giving away the surprise. I finally convinced her that even though it was mid day the park was still open until midnight and we would have the whole rest of the day to enjoy the park.
VANESSA: After Easter at Grandma's Rob decided to pack our bags and get ready for the road trip to Florida at 3AM. I was a little shocked and too tired to have him explain why we were leaving so early. During the ride he didn't even want to stop for a bathroom break, I finally said Darwin is going to have to go eventually you think we can get some food too. He was being so weird and very anxious to get to Florida. We arrived around noon to the hotel with little sleep we headed to Disney. I wanted to spend the day getting lost at the stores, beach, dog park have a great dinner at some local spot and head to Disney the following day, but he was very adamant about going that day.
ROB: I asked Vanessa to pack a bag to bring with us and I would walk Darwin before we left. I return to see the rose that held the ring inside and was wrapped in a white t shirt on the bed.  Vanessa was using the bag and had dumped what was inside on the the bed.  I literally lost my mind.  Vanessa had no clue what she had done, but knew I was mad.

VANESSA: Rob went to go walk Darwin before we headed out and asked that I pack a bag, I grabbed the blue sports bag on the table and dumped it on the bed. I figured I would pack some water because it was hot that day and sunblock, wallet sunglasses etc. Rob walks in " I say I'm ready let's go" He looked upset and said let's go. I was a bit confused as we were heading to the happiest place on Earth and Rob was acting really strange and anxious.
BOTH: We finally arrive at Magic Kingdom and end up having a great day! We go to all the rides, see the Disney characters eat a turkey leg and have an awesome time. It ends up down pouring, with thunder and lightening. We let's play in the rain and used this opportunity to get on more rides since the lines for the rides were now short. Right before the fireworks were going to start, I asked her to take a picture in front of the castle. We had already taking pictures for the day, and are now soaked from the rain. I give my phone to another couple to take some pictures and whisper in the ladies ear, "just keep taking pictures, you'll see why." Vanessa and I go in front of the Castle and I go to open my bag to get the ring. Vanessa tries to turn me towards the camera to take the picture, I go back to my bag. I get down on my knee, and the entire park is cheering. Vanessa says "Why are you on the floor, get up!" I say "look down" (I'm on my knee ring in hand), she looks down and I say "Vanessa, I Love you, your my everything, will you Marry me?" This results in several seconds of tears, but to me felt like hours. I say "So is that a Yes?" Vanessa dives on me and with a huge hug says "Of course I will!" She made me the happiest person in the happiest place on Earth. The look on her face when she said yes, is something I will never forget, as she made me the happiest I have ever been. I didn't realize I hadn't said anything as my head was shaking yes, at the same time realizing what was happening in front of an entire crowd gathered to watch the fireworks. I couldn't have imagined it but a few years prior, I mentioned my family used to go away to Disney for my sisters birthday and my parents would tell her that they were having a fireworks display for her, and I had always wanted my own. As rob placed the ring on my finger and I hugged him, he whispered " These fireworks are for you"
