The Hampton Inn and Suites Grandville Grand Rapids South room block will be set aside until March 27, 2025. Please ask for the Martinez Voetberg Wedding block or mention the code 901. It is located roughly 20 minutes from our venue and provides easy access to multiple food options, including the Rivertown Crossings Mall.

We would recommend those flying do so into Grand Rapid's Gerald R Ford International Airport (GRR). Located downtown GR, it is roughly 35 minutes from our venue, The Old Wooden Barn, and 25 minutes from downtown Grandville where we have set aside a room block at the Hampton Inn and Suites. Uber, Lyft and rental car services are available for transportation options.

Lodging and Travel

We met March 2022 when Vanessa moved from Michigan to Salyer, CA for a job on the Six Rivers National Forest; Alex was going into his 4th season in fire and was on the same engine module. Our first date was an unexpected all-day adventure which including breakfast, a lot of coffee and talking, hikes, and went so late that it ended with dinner. The next day, Al went on assignment to Alaska for an entire month, but in between blips of phone service we continued to talk and get to know each other. After only a few months, we took our first trip to see his family for Thanksgiving. Next came Al's turn to meet Vanessa's side for 2 weeks in Michigan... "the ultimate test" (that we knew he would pass) It didn't take long for us to be sure our relationship was a forever kind of deal. As time has gone on, we have challenged and encouraged each other along the way. Thank you for all the support; we cannot wait to see what our future holds.

Our local mall is located 5 minutes from the Hampton Inn and Suites in Grandville. It provides plenty of options for shopping, entertainment, and food.

RiverTown Crossings

If you choose to stick around following the wedding, Holland's famous Tulip Time festival will be kicking off Saturday May 3, 2025, but we recommend taking a trip before hand as well. You can still enjoy the beautiful Tulips, quaint shops, delicious food, and even take a walk down the pier. https://www.downtownholland.com/

Meijer Gardens is one of Grand Rapid's claims to fame. March 1- April 30 is typically a great time to check out their tropical conservatory for the "Butterflies are Blooming" exhibit.

Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park

Fulton street market will be kicking off its first Saturday Market for the main season May 3rd and offers a variety of local vendors worth checking out.
