It’s known for Moody Gardens, where giant glass pyramids house sharks, monkeys and other animals. Amusement rides and restaurants line Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier on the south shore.

1. Galveston Island is home to three National Historic Landmarks including the Tall Ship Elissa, East End, and The Strand and has approximately 1,500 historic buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Galveston Island is located on the Gulf of Mexico, 50 miles South of Houston.


2. Galveston has the second largest historic preservation group in the nation. The Galveston Historical Foundation celebrated its 125th anniversary in 1996.

Varnika and Anurag love taking evening strolls here. They celebrated their engagement at the coffee shop“Slowpokes” within the park.


The park’s thoughtful design features activity areas, a dog park, rain garden, the Children’s Park, and beautiful landscaping. 1. This urban green space has been upgraded from neglected baseball field to a 6-acre mecca with tons of amenities parents and kids alike will love.

2.There are 60 parking space adjacent to the green space, but the parking garage right next to the park at Richmond and Wakeforest is $2 an hour if needed.

If you’re a beer fan, this is a must. The two have had countless dates here and also celebrated their first anniversary here. Varnika also frequents their Harry Potter trivia!


Founded by Colorado native Andy Dunn and his Houstonian wife, Angie, Walking Stick is a magnetic watering hole for locals and visitors alike that are looking for a relaxed, refreshing setting to enjoy carefully crafted beer for all levels of enthusiasts.


Fun Fact:

1. Just north of 610 in the historic Greater Oaks/Oak Forest neighborhood, Walking Stick Brewing Company has been pouring palate-pleasing beer and wine in their spacious digs since 2018.

2. It is a Brewery space with rotating food trucks and lunch offered by Twiggy's in house bagel sandwiches.

A legendary Indian restaurant in the Mahatma Gandhi district. The two have gotten to know each others’ friends and family over paapdi chaat at this meeting place!


Fun Fact:

1. Know before you go: The aloo parathas are made to order and can take up to 30 minutes to prepare during peak dining times.

2. The aloo parathas at Shiv Sagar are generously stuffed with potatoes, so much so that the crisp shell is punctured on either end.

The Montrose location was the place Varnika and Anurag had their first date! This coffee shop and bakery has some of the best pastries in Houston. Their Kouign Amann is their personal favorite!

1. Common Bond is always a hit with their freshly baked pastries.

2. It now has multiple locations across the city of Houston where the community gathers to dine and bond over good food, extraordinary pastries, and custom cakes.

Koffeteria

Going here is a Sunday morning tradition for Varnika and Anurag pastry shop. They make some of the most unique pastries in Houston!


Koffeteria sits in the heart of East Downtown, Houston. The neighborhood once known as Vietnam Town, is where pastry chef Vanarin Kuch spent time in his family’s seafood & doughnut shops. Today real estate agents have dubbed the neighborhood ‘Eado’ and it is home to breweries, music venues, and some of Houston’s best nightlife.

1. The menu changes often to incorporate seasonal ingredients and showcase the diverse flavors of Houston.

2. The industrial decorated shop features mid-century furniture as an inviting place for visitors to enjoy a dessert with a hint of opulence.
