Tyler and Veronica were, at different times, students of Miller South Dakota's school district. Veronica attended school at Miller until 2nd grade, and then transferred. Tyler's family entered Miller's school district in the 5th grade. Despite such close proximity, the two never truly met until they entered high school. Veronica's new school, combined football programs with Tyler's high school. The two crossed paths every now and again, but it wasn't until the first football game of their junior year that the two spoke.
Tyler was sitting in Veronica's vicinity at the football game, and heard her discussing a bad date she had the week prior with her friends. He chimed in and agreed that the guy from the prior date missed out. Later, he messaged her via social media and promised he could take her on a better date.
They blossomed from there. They spent their junior and senior years of high school traveling 40+ miles between their homes, going to one another's games, and academic events. COVID hit their senior year, and uncertainty came with the long distance throughout college – Tyler pursued his athletic career at Dakota Weslayan University as a Secondary History Education Major, and Veronica in Vermillion, pursuing her creative practice at the University of South Dakota as a Graphic Design major. The two remained committed to one another throughout the ups and downs of college, and grew to share their faith with one another more vibrantly. In March of 2023 Tyler proposed. They are excited to continue to share their life and faith together.
Together, with their parents, Tyler and Veronica will celebrate their marriage on June 15, 2024, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Dimock, with a reception following in Mitchell.
