Veronica and Brandon first met the Fall of 2017 at UIUC in the Marching Illini. Both were a part of the Trombone section in the band and occasionally saw and spoke to each other in passing or group events. Eventually, Brandon graduated from U of I in the Spring of 2018 and began teaching band and music in Spring Valley, IL while Veronica continued classes for her Speech and Hearing Bachelor's Degree at U of I. Brandon would visit campus from time to time and talk to Veronica when she was with like friends. The two began talking and messaging more until Brandon had the courage to ask Veronica out in March 2019.

At the time doing a long distance relationship seemed a bit daunting for the two, but both were determined to make the best out of their time together. This was put to the challenge when Veronica began her doctorate program in Audiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Fall of 2020 while Brandon continued teaching in the Illinois Valley. Despite the farther distance, both made the time and effort to see each other as many weekends as possible. Weekends in Madison were full of trips to Scooter's Coffee, their obsessive bond over all things Ewok related, Target runs and Thai restaurants while weekends in La Salle were full of trips to Bean Box Espresso, more Target and lots of Chipotle.

Veronica and Brandon officially got engaged on November 22, 2020 at Japan House on the campus of UIUC. The two are excited to spend the rest of their lives together and are more excited for all of their family and friends to share their wedding day together on June 22, 2024.
