When most patrons hit on the bartender, nothing comes of it. Lucky for Veronica, that's not how this story ended.

Nick and Veronica met at Loretto Pub and Grill while Nick was bartending a few years before they had their first not-date date (we'll come back to that). Nothing besides adding each other on Facebook came from their first few encounters, but during the summer of 2020, that would change. While picking up food from the bar, Nick was too busy to talk and catch up with Veronica. He messaged her on Facebook to apologize the next day, and they've been talking ever since.

Back to that not-date date. Because this was during the height of COVID and most restaurants had restrictions in place, Nick asked if Veronica would like to go on a hike around Glendale Lake. They'll both admit that they weren't sure if this outing was meant to be a date or just friends hanging out together. By the time they were done hiking trails and going for an upside-down banana split, they both realized this was more than just friendship.

From that day on, Nick and Veronica were inseparable. On May 17, 2022, Nick made things permanent and asked Veronica to marry him. With the help of her friends, he set up a surprise proposal at Phipps Conservatory before the blink-182 concert. She said, "YEAH!" and they began planning for their big day.
