Our Story

How we met

Picture of How we met
Brian and Veronica Blaire met while both living in the Central San Joaquin Valley of California. Brian invited Veronica to dinner at a local steakhouse for their first date in early December, 2017. The couple started out with much in common, as both had spent their childhood and teen years, and some early college in their respective hometowns of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Bride

Veronica Blaire was born on November 24th, 1987 in San Francisco, California, to parents Scott and Gail (Stewart) Spadafore. But she did not come into the world alone. Her twin sister, Keely Rae, came along too! Veronica has been referred to by her middle name, Blaire, since birth. Most family and longtime friends use this family name. Though, most friends made later in high school and in college use Veronica, when use of her first name became more of a necessity in professional atmosphere. After attempts to use either one or the other, both names have stuck. So, think of Veronica as a formal name and Blaire as a nickname!

Veronica Blaire and family moved to Campbell, California in early 1989, and then moved to Santa Cruz, California in 1996. Gail had previously worked in the financial district in the City by the Bay, before she and Scott decided Gail would stay at home and raise the girls. Scott worked in Silicon Valley for Amdahl and later, Oracle. Scott passed away suddenly in 2010. He is remembered as a driven, successful, smart, witty, and kind person who would do anything for his family.

Some of Veronica's favorite activities as a child were spending time at the parks, shops, and eateries in Los Gatos, Campbell, and Saratoga with her family, and later walks to the beach from the family's Santa Cruz home, tide pooling, swimming in the ocean, and hiking in the mountains among the redwoods. Veronica and her sister also had many extracurricular activities during these years such as gymnastics, music lessons, and horse-riding lessons. Veronica especially enjoyed piano, dance (Ballet, Ballroom) musical theater, and the arts into high school. Both girls attended Scotts Valley High School.

After high school, Veronica with her family moved to Clovis, California to be closer to relatives. The girls attended local colleges, chose career paths, then went on to move and live in other areas of California, and beyond! Veronica Blaire is a Registered Nurse and her sister Keely is a Registered Dental Hygienist. Keely is married to husband Chad with two children, Kira age 4, and Kaia age 1. The bride loves her nieces!

Groom

Brian was born in Novato, California, On October 3rd, 1984 to parents Bob and Diane Boivie (Giroux). Bob was originally from Richmond, California, and Diane from Missoula, Montana. Brian's parents ran a small business called Marin Carpet Service. Brian and his brother Jason worked for the family business throughout high school (Novato High) and also played sports including varsity lacrosse, a sport which he pursued into college. His other interests included hiking, mountain biking, water sports and snow sports, working on off-road vehicles and blazing the OHV trails of the Sierra Nevada with friends, surfing, and free-diving in the ocean for abalone.

After high school, Brian chose to enlist in the military as a marine. Brian served his country as a Corporal, commanding a special operations quick-reaction force, in the 2nd battalion 7th Marines on a combined anti-armor weapons truck. Brian's military service spanned from 2008-2012 and took him to the countries of Jordan, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Australia, Guam, and the Philippines. Brian was stationed in Washington, D.C. for a time and participated in Dignified Transports. During this time, Brian was able to briefly meet President George W. Bush and President Obama.

After Brian's service in the military, he returned home and became a civilian police officer in San Francisco. Brian quickly moved up the ranks and, when he moved to the San Joaquin Valley, became a lead general Detective.

Brian likes to spend time with his niece and nephew, Brinlynn and Tobin, (parents Jason (brother), and Kristen Boivie). The children will be participating in the wedding ceremony.

Why Saratoga?

When Veronica (Blaire) and Keely were living in Campbell, neighboring towns of Saratoga and Los Gatos were frequented daily. Veronica and Keely spent many mornings with Gail and/or Scott at the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company, Town Park, the Saratoga public library, and the Saratoga and Los Gatos Creek trails. Other favorites included Vasona park, Bachman park, Willow Street Pizza, Dolce Spazio Dessert Cafe, and Andale mexican restaurant, and, of course...Saratoga Springs!! So, needless to say, the Bride-to-Be feels at home every time she returns to this special area.

While Brian mostly frequented towns on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge during this time, the couples recent visit to Saratoga instantly spoke to them, reminding them of the special and unique microclimate of mountains, beaches, and redwoods they know and love.
