Cocktail or semi-formal attire please!
Dresses for the ladies, whatever length or color you love best. Dress shirts and jackets for the men, but summer in South Bend can be warm, please feel free to leave the ties and jackets at your table or in the car for dinner and dancing!
Can I bring a plus one? Can I bring my kids?
As much as we love you and anyone you love, we have only designated seats for those who were listed on your invitation. If we made a mistake, please reach out beforehand and we can discuss further!
If your children are listed and you'd prefer a weekend away, please feel free to leave them in the care of Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles, or your favorite sitters. All we ask is you let us know in your RSVP!
What should I do between the ceremony and reception?
You're right, you'll have about 4 hours between the end of the ceremony and beginning of cocktail hour. Thank you for being patient with our scheduling around time limitations at the Basilica. See the "Things to Do" section for a number of options, but we'd recommend grabbing a light lunch and packing good walking shoes to bring yourself on a tour of campus.
Am I allowed to take or post photos?
We have found the perfect photographer for our day and want to let her do her best work. For that reason, please refrain from taking photos during the ceremony. We'd love to see all your candids from the rest of the day! Feel free to post online. We'll happily share the professional images once we have them!
Where should I eat in South Bend?
For fancier options, try Cafe Navarre or Rohr's at the Morris Inn.
Casual meals, cafes, or breweries were more of my usual haunt. My favorites were The Lauber, South Bend Brew Works, Chicory Cafe, Crooked Ewe, Evil Czech, and O'Rourke's Pub. These are all over town, but all within ~15 minutes. If you'd prefer something within walking distance, Eddy Street is the best option!
Coffee?
Yes. Always. Chicory Cafe and South Bend Chocolate Company are both GREAT local options! There's also a full Starbucks on campus in LaFortune Student Center and additional coffee shops in Hammes Bookstore and the Morris Inn.
