Who better to tell the story of Brandon and Tori than the one with the front row seat from almost day one? For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Shiva, the exceptionally adorable, only-child dog of Brandon and Tori. Out of the three of us, I might not be the best with words, but I’ve undoubtedly had the best vantage point to their relationship - even if it is from a few feet lower than the rest of you. So here it goes... About 77 years ago (I think that’s 11 years ago for you humans), Brandon and Tori strolled into a puppy store and held me for the first time. Although they had clearly been friends for a while, having met at the University of Central Florida nearly one year prior, I could tell that they had only recently begun dating. That might’ve made most other pups nervous, but I could tell by the way that they looked at each other and through their witty banter, that those two were going to be a furever family. So, I gave them my best puppy eyes and convinced them to take the next logical step in their relationship - that’s right, adding me to the family! It didnt take them long to fall in love. With me of course, how could they not! But also, with each other. After they graduated from college, we all moved to St. Petersburg where Tori attended law school and Brandon began his career in finance. Despite their busy schedules, they learned how to be present with each other, and managed to grow together all while finding themselves. This meant it was time to take their commitment to the next level. You guessed it, they bought me a house in Riverview! Shortly after, Tori graduated from Stetson University College of Law, passed the bar exam, and became a practicing attorney. Brandon realized that his true passion was in mechanical engineering, and he decided to go back to school at the University of South Florida for his engineering degree. So I’ve been told, because for some reason they spend a lot of time working and studying from home (probably to spend more time with me). In our little blue house, I watched them grow closer, unwillingly turn into something called “adults,” and explore new hobbies and activities together, like keeping aquariums, fish and corals (I really don’t see the appeal, or appreciate the attention they get), game nights with friends, boating, traveling, cooking (the blonde one is clumsy and drops food all the time), and, of course, cuddling with me. I didn’t think things could get better, but after 9 short years, Brandon proposed to Tori while on a trip to Zion National Park. I wasn’t there, but I heard that Brandon asked Tori to marry him while inside the Sand Caves, on the side of a cliff, and with the most beautiful ring (its shiny, but my recommendation was something squeakier). I am grateful that they found each other and grew their love throughout life’s many changes. But mostly, I am glad that my humans are FINALEE making their commitment to each other official! To my humans, may you continue to find happiness in the little things, exercise loyalty and devotion, and love each other unconditionally - all the lessons I have taught you. To our family and friends, thank you for supporting us on this journey, for your love and guidance, and for keeping all the human food you feed me a secret. Now lets pop the pawsecco and pawty! ~ Shiva Lee
