Our Wedding

Philip and Victoria met in May of 2018 at support raising training in Minneapolis, MN. Having a heart for the nations, they both were set to serve for 2 year stints. It was not very long after meeting that they both developed crushes for one another. However, as the Lord kept Philip in America and Victoria was getting ready to serve in North Africa, Philip chose to not get in the way of Victoria serving and remained silent. During Victoria's time overseas, the two kept in contact quite a bit, sending novel worthy messages back and forth on WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

Our Story

Upon returning to America, the Lord kept Philip and Victoria as just friends, which opened up the opportunity to really grow in their own walks and learn what it means to be both a godly man and a godly woman.

The timing of Victoria and Philip getting together however, did not fall together until May of 2022. During this time, Victoria, living in the middle of nowhere, killed a rattlesnake. Wanting to show off her achievement, she immediately "slid into Philip's DM's." Seeing the opportunity and God's sovereignty, Philip began to pursue Victoria. Both with long commutes, this resulted in long phone calls, where both were able to catch up and share what the Lord was doing in their hearts.

Philip and Victoria began dating on July 17, 2022 at a botanical garden in Newport Beach, CA. Their relationship was long distance until November, when Victoria moved out to Kansas City with a family of the church Philip was attending while studying at Midwestern. During this time, both Victoria and Philip were able to serve and be known by the church body.

May of 2023, Philip embarked on a 5 month term in South Asia to complete his degree. The final two weeks of his time, Victoria and their church body were able to join and serve alongside the work he was doing. On September 25th, while hiking the foothills of the Himalayas, Philip got down on one knee and asked Victoria to marry him. She said YES! And the rest is history :)

Philip and Victoria anticipate many long, late night chats around the fire with Sasquatch, for they know he is both real and majestic.

Sarah and Victoria are dear sisters in Christ. Victoria had the opportunity to live with Sarah and her family, which is where their sisterhood truly blossomed. Heavy trials brought the both of them closer together, leading to Victoria asking Sarah to be her maid of honor. Sarah feels that Sasquatch is fictional but intriguing.

Andrew is Philip's brother and closest confidant. No two brothers have been closer than these two, different as they may be. When the hard times come, they have been there for each other in a heart beat. Andrew feels by now if Sasquatch was real there’d be solid evidence. There’s way too many trail cameras in the woods now days for anything to completely evade.

Kendra and Victoria met when Victoria moved to Kansas City. Victoria had the opportunity to live with Kendra and her husband, where Kendra helped walk Victoria through navigating healthy relationships and growing in her faith. Kendra feels that Sasquatch is like a big fuzzy, furry teddy bear that walks around and tries to hide from people who hunt him.

Donald and Philip quickly became friends freshman year of college at CBU. A rag-tag team, they bonded over old cars, specifically 4-runners, and challenging each other's theology. Donald thinks that Sasquatch is very real I think that they’re gigantopithecus and hiding themselves from society in mountains and snowcaps in other parts of the world, not because of a higher intelligence but more so natural instinct of hiding a tribe for protections.

Aya and Victoria became sweet friends in Egypt. A newbie in a different country can be overwhelming. Aya took Victoria under her wing and made sure she was safe. Thanks to Aya, Victoria learned the unorganized organized bus routes and ate the best food ever under their family roof. Victoria fell in love with Egypt and it's generous hospitality from Aya showing unwavering commitment and hospitality to Victoria. Aya feels like running in the jungle with her hair flying in the air and there is a giant monkey (Sasquatch) running with her and feels so free.

Luke and Philip journeyed together this past year in their master’s program. Though very different in nature, their love for the church and the nations grew them together. Luke and Grace have loved and served Philip and Victoria so sweetly, inviting Philip into their home with open arms. Luke has often dreamed of finding this evasive, strong, and mystical creature that he might uncover the mysteries and questions hidden and sought after for ages.

 Victoria’s main “hype girl” Josie has always been a source of encouragement and perspective for Victoria. She keeps her eyes on Christ and always rejoices in all trials. Josie feels that Sasquatch is merely a figment of the deranged man’s imagination, but that if he’s out there somewhere she'd like to meet someday!

Tyler and Philip met in college. Old Toyotas and off roading were how they spend most of their time and conversations together. During COVID, the two of them were able to continue to grow their friendship as they had the time and opportunity to talk on the phone frequently. Tyler thinks Sasquatch is a baller.

Getting her master’s degree alongside Philip, Tinly became like a sister quickly to both him and Victoria. That sibling bond grew into a deep trust and friendship. Tinly and Victoria are now (and finally) roommates leading up to the wedding. Tinly thinks Sasquatch looks great on t-shirts, stickers, and coffee mugs.

Very different people, Byron and Philip had the opportunity to be RA's together in college. There they were able to see the strengths of the other and became not only a great team but also good friends. Byron is convinced Sasquatch is 1000% real and for sure lives in the Appalachian mountains!

Meeting at Petco, Taryn and Victoria developed almost an immediate deep friendship. Through major trials (such as fire evacuations) they were right by each others side. Taryn's love for Sasquatch led her to poetry

Bill and Philip met as coworkers at World Changers. Three years later, Bill and Philip went to the same church when Philip moved to Phoenix. There, they quickly became close friends, as Philip watched Bill court his now wife Alyssa. Bill loves the Scooby Doo movie about Sasquatch, though that may have been about the Chupacabra...

One of Victoria’s oldest friends, Jessica and Victoria go back to fourth grade! From secret code names to living worlds apart, these two have stayed friends through it all. Their families have also remained close throughout the years. Jessica is intrigued by the hype around Sasquatch, eg hunting parties, and the folklore around it is fascinating.

Sam and Philip were partners and teammates this past year for their masters program. The two had the opportunity to grow and hold each other accountable throughout a hard season. Their friendship really came alive while the served side by side in South Asia for 5 months together in the summer. Sweaty, exhausted, and over the extreme humidity, the two pushed each other to put God and others first despite the hardships they faced. Sam thinks Sasquatch is cool. When he thinks of Sasquatch it reminds him of the Goofy movie, which is a good thing.

About 12 minutes from the venue, Overland Park is one of the highlight areas of Kansas City! There is plenty to do with lots of different options!
