Our story began in high school. Jeffrey and I became friends in a high school Science class. We were Science lab partners and spent our days getting to know each other. Though in this period of time, we remained only friends, I suppose you could say there was always a “chemistry” about us.

Several years later, Jeff and I reconnected as I was finishing my final year of my Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Cobleskill. I would soon return to my home town of Yonkers, and Jeffrey was quick to offer his assistance to help me with moving. After a few late nights of conversation, Jeff officially asked me for our first date to the Natural History Museum and dinner.

For the next seven years, we’ve remained inseparable only growing together with every path that life has taken us down. For years, Jeff battled a heart disorder he was born with, SVT, which sent him into heart failure in December 2019 at age 27. Jeff underwent a life saving ablation procedure in January 2020, allowing a second wind of life. While I faced my own challenges with my neuromuscular condition, CMT, Jeff and I started our journey toward physical health side by side. I finished my Master’s in Occupational Therapy and began my first year in the Department of Education. Jeff quickly realized the perks of a teacher’s schedule and began to pursue his own path to the Department of Education. One year later, Jeff became a high school HVAC teacher. Jeff and I began our search for a house in January 2022. We went to several open houses and placed offers on a few, where we were outbid in the frenzied housing market. We patiently waited for the right opportunity in our chosen neighborhood. In November 2022, we held an accepted offer for our dream house located on the same beautiful street I grew up on. We moved in for January and finally closed on our house in March of 2023.

Jeff planned his proposal for months, secretly involving both our families into his plan. Jeff proposed on 1/1/2023 in Untermeyer Gardens during the Winter Lights festival. I was beyond surprised to turn around and see our entire families there together. We set our date for 7/7/2024 and will be married at the VIP Country Club!
