If You Ask Dalton:
I had just got back from being overseas in the Middle East for 6 months. I decided I wanted to start dating but wanted to find someone with like the same beliefs. So I chose to use a Christian dating app, something I’ve never done. Only after like two weeks that’s when I came across Victoria, she was gorgeous and I wanted to get to know her. We started getting to know each other by texting, and eventually calling on the phone however still haven’d met in person. I took leave and drove up to Missouri from Jacksonville (where my family is from), on my way back from Missouri I wanted to meet Victoria.
She told me I could stop in at her parent’s house on my way back to Jax from Missouri. She said that her whole family would be there for her Dad’s retirement party; that made me a little nervous but I still decided to go. So I drove from Missouri back to Florida but went a different route. I got there and yep.. her whole family was there. I was nervous but having her there just made everything better. She was very pretty and very sweet, I loved everything about her. That’s how our love story started
If You Ask Victoria:
Dalton and I met while I was finishing my undergraduate degree at Jacksonville University. We meet on a Christian dating app called Upward. At first, I was a little hesitant to meet with him in person but his patience and understanding eased my anxieties. When we did finally meet in person, we didn't just grab coffee and chat- I invited him to Dad's retirement party. Dalton drove all the way from Jacksonville to not only meet me for the first time but also meet many of my family members and close friends. From that moment on I knew he had a good heart and was special. Even before meeting in person, we spend a lot of time talking and building a connection. What started as messaging on the dating app transitioned to Instagram chats, our first Facetime call during one of his duty shifts, and eventually constant calls and texts. We focused on creating a strong friendship as the foundation of our relationship, as well as our faith, which has become a safe and supportive space for both of us. Dalton has been my rock and my biggest support through several milestones since we met- earning my bachelor's degree, taking an unintended year off from school, and now as I prepare to graduate with my master's degree. Through countless underways and two deployments, we've stuck by each other and I couldn't be prouder to support my sailor. I look forward to a lifetime of adventures together and can't wait to see what God has in store for us
(especially with our Ollie Boy).
