Christopher and Victoria's story is one of serendipity, growth, and faith. It all began when Victoria re-enlisted into the Coast Guard in August 2023 and was stationed in Ketchikan, Alaska. Little did she know, this move would bring her together with Chris, who had already been stationed in Ketchikan for a year. Their paths crossed in a funny and fateful way: while Victoria was waiting for her flight into Ketchikan, she called the station—and it was Chris who answered the phone.

From that moment on, their connection was immediate. They bonded over shared interests like fishing, hiking, music, guns, cooking, and good food, creating a deep friendship that quickly blossomed into something more. However, the nature of their work meant they had to keep their relationship under wraps, as the Coast Guard (like many other branches of the military) frowns on romantic relationships between colleagues.

The dynamic shifted when Chris was sent to South Carolina for a six-week training. During their time apart, the distance made them realize just how strong their feelings for each other were, but it also gave them the space to deepen their faith. Leaning on God became a key part of their relationship, helping them realize they didn't want to hide their love any longer.

When Chris returned, the couple decided to come clean to their command. With some grace and understanding, Chris was reassigned to a cutter nearby, allowing them to continue their relationship without fear of repercussions.

Fast forward to today: Chris is now stationed on the CGC Bailey Barco and periodically deployed within Alaska. The challenges of navigating a long-distance relationship, especially with Chris’ deployments, have tested their resilience. But in those moments of separation, their faith has only grown stronger, providing both comfort and clarity as they continue to grow both as a couple and in their individual journeys of faith.

Their story is one of overcoming challenges, trusting in God's timing, and learning to lean on each other in times of both joy and hardship. Despite the demands of their careers and the unique challenges of military life, Christopher and Victoria's bond remains unshaken—a beautiful example of love, faith, and perseverance.
