In a traditional Chamorro wedding, the day would start off with the Groom’s family being served breakfast by the Bride’s family. This is to honor and welcome the Bride’s new family, and to wish the newly weds a final farewell as single individuals.

This will allow us to get the whole group together before it is our turn to tie the knot. We have a large family, and everyone loves to be late. We have to schedule a time before had to meet up. That way everyone can make it to the ceremony on time and decrease the amount of stress for the Groom and the Bride.

Following the wedding ceremony, it is Chamorro tradition that the Groom’s family cook for the Bride’s family. It give the families a chance to bond, and signifies the relinquishment of the Father’s right to the Bride. It will be the first time the Bride is seen as property of her husband, and not of her brother or father. BUT THIS IS 2020!!! Ain’t no husband owning there bride as property, but for the sake of tradition the event stands. 💍❤️
