Who messaged who first, I’m not sure… 😊
It was the beginning of November 2021 when we had our first date at Thesis Beer Project, which still remains as our favorite brewery in town (and where we are currently writing this 😊). We had the most down to earth, genuine conversations. Before we knew it, two hours had flown by and Trivia night was about to start at the brewery, so we thought why not give it a try. We quickly realized we were on the same skill level when it comes to trivia, which is not good. We still had a great time and lots of laughs. After a great first date, we both knew there was more to come before the night was even over.
On July 6, 2024, we were finishing up caulking and painting around our new baseboards… the most tedious part of redoing flooring. We decided to take a break from the stress and play 9 holes at Maple Valley Golf and Country Club. Of course, I was feeling grumpy and guilty for not staying home to finish up our job. Being the positive half of our relationship, Kevin was trying to cheer me up, saying “let’s have a good time out here” and “we are going to have fun”.
The third hole at Maple Valley is one of our favorite holes and the one with the best view. It is up on a cliff, overlooking the valley and river that runs through the course. It also one of the few holes that I can make it on the green while Kevin slices it waaay to the right 😉
I walked up to the women’s tee and took a swing. When I turned around, Kevin was there on one knee. While I did know a ring was in the picture, but I had no idea when or how he was going to ask! It was the perfect proposal for us, and it instantly turned my grumpy mood upside-down 😊
Kevin and I moved in together in September 2022 after closing on a townhome in SE Rochester. While the townhome is perfect for just the two of us, it felt empty and did not feel like home. After much convincing and after sending Kevin hundreds of pictures of available dogs, he finally agreed to look at this liter of mini bernedoodle puppies in Iowa. In the cold of winter, we drove 3 hours to scope out the liter and get a feel for the breeder. Kevin and I agreed that we would be honest with each other if we felt weird vibes or if anything was off. To our pleasant surprise, we fell in love with the most active and loving little puppy. She was fearless. Upon picking her up into our arms, she did not shy away, but rather, she gave us copious kisses. She stole our heart. After a few short weeks, we picked her up at 8 weeks old, and she has been a loving part of our family since. While her puppyhood brought us the biggest challenges we’ve faced so far, she taught us patience and how to work at every hard challenge as a team.
Luna (affectionally referred to as “Miss Lune") is our overly loving, adventurous, and joyful doggie. Every day she shows us how to enjoy everything in life as she just downright loves everyone, everything, and every treat…. Almost to a fault 😉 we can’t imagine our family without Luna in our life and excited to tackle these next adventures with her by our side!
Meet Lily!!!
Kevin and I adopted this sweet, gentle angel at the end of January. She’s less than a year old, originally found roaming on the streets of Texas. Thanks to the Forever Fido Rescue Organization and our friend, Thad, who was fostering her, the stars aligned for us to expand our family by four more paws!
Lily has already brought all of us so much love, and it has been truly rewarding while gaining her trust. Luna is OBSESSED with her new, forever playmate. We are incredibly happy that we were able to give this sweet girl a home :)
