Our Story

In spring 2021, Covid-19 was very far from over. As so many others did early in the pandemic, Tori started walking outside at lunchtime, to get some fresh air. She walked every day, without fail. When it really warmed up, she started seeing a boy on a skateboard zooming around the park. Not overly shocking, seeing as many frat boys from the university live in downtown Hartford. Day after day, they passed each other in the park. The frat boy on his skateboard, and Tori with her headphones in. Weeks later, he waved at her, and she waved back. Daily waves were soon accompanied by smiles. Soon after this, he caught her eye and stopped, saying "I really like your braid", indicating Tori's go-to hairstyle for walks. She smiled and thanked him; they parted ways. The very next day, he skated right up to Tori and stopped, this time nervously saying "I don't really know how to do this in Covid, but I would love to buy you a coffee." Turns out he wasn't a frat boy at all, but a fully grown man with a career at a competing insurance company. His name was Doug. She accepted his coffee invitation, and they quickly realized they were perfect for each other. 2 years, 1 puppy, and many motorcycle trips later, Doug proposed after a picnic in the Taconic mountains. The rest, as they say, is history.
