Our Wedding

Technically, we met on a Catholic Illini retreat, NFK 127. He was the Wheatie King (head chef), so his whole weekend was a panicked blur and he doesn't remember a whole lot&nbsp;of what happened.&nbsp;We met again the next year&nbsp;through the retreat program, this time on music team for NFK&nbsp;133. At our first music team&nbsp;meeting, I remembered him, but he didn't remember me. Awkward...

How We Met

In my defense,&nbsp;I was exhausted when he asked me out. I was spacing out for a second, but when I came back to reality he was in the middle of the question. I suddenly&nbsp;realized what was going on, and in my surprise, I said, "...Ok?...." He&nbsp;asked if that was a yes&nbsp;so he could get a more solid answer,&nbsp;and I said, "Sure...." He didn't sleep that night.

The date was at Perkins, just north of campus. We ate, we talked about ourselves and each other, standard stuff. I mean, we kept dating, so it must have gone well.

Our First Date

Dan, you should tell this one.So here's a quick story: In October of 2017 we went on a picnic on the Main Quad at Illinois. While Dan was in between bites of a corned beef sandwich, Victoria asked, "If you knew you were going to die in a year, would you change anything about the way you're living now?" Almost without hesitating, Dan said, "Yeah, I would ask you to marry me." Victoria started crying (not out of sadness) and this became known as the time Dan made Victoria cry. More importantly it was the first time Dan made it clear to Victoria how much&nbsp;he loves her and his&nbsp;intention&nbsp;to marry her.Fast forward to July of 2019. Dan and Victoria were back in Champaign for friend's&nbsp;a wedding (shoutout to Mark and Jordan!). The day after the wedding, Dan and Victoria went to Mass and had a relaxing picnic brunch on the Main Quad at Illinois. It was&nbsp;in between bites of a corned beef sandwich (Dan likes his corned beef) that Dan reminded Victoria about what happened&nbsp;the last time they had a picnic on the Main Quad, the time he made her cry. He then got on one knee, told her that he loved her more than he did during the last picnic, that his desire to spend the rest of his life with her had only grown since then, and asked, "Victoria, will you marry me?" And Victoria said, "Of course!"
