Greg and Vivian lived in Astoria for many years… worked at the same company for many years… then lived in the same building for a year… and had the same doctor for months… but, never met until 2022!

This is the story of a couple whose paths have crossed many times, but took 8 years to meet…

It starts in 2014 when Vivian joined the same company as Greg. They worked on the same floor, but never met. Greg claims Vivian was introduced to him in 2015 and he saw her sitting at her seat back in 2016, but Vivian doesn’t remember any of that.
 

Throughout this time, Greg moved to Astoria and Vivian moved a few blocks away in 2018, but they still… never met.

While Vivian was living in Astoria, she’d hang out with a mutual friend Gustavo (the Man of Honor) from time to time and he’d mention how his “really cool” manager in Acquisitions lived around the corner, but Vivian was never in the mood to meet anyone new at work.

Fast forward to 2021, both Greg and Vivian moved from Astoria to the same apartment building in Long Island City. Greg moved in February 2021 and Vivian unknowingly joined him a month later in March.

Gustavo was hanging out at Vivian’s apartment in Long Island City and suggested to invite one of his managers (Greg, of course!) to join them. Again, Vivian was not interested in meeting anyone new at work and just wanted to stay in and watch TV but Gustavo was infectiously outgoing that night, so she gave in.
 


Gustavo told Greg to come up to Vivian’s apartment and they finally meet on a cold, windy January night in 2022! As soon as Greg walked into her apartment, his face lit up. But, Vivian just thought he was really impressed with her apartment since he was just looking around the place – not at her though. Womp womp. Vivian later found out that he was trying to hide his enthusiasm by looking at her walls instead of her. YAY!
 


So, the three go out to eat at Jackson’s Eatery, and Greg knew he definitely liked Vivian after she ordered an apple pie during dinnertime. Because… he also wanted one, but decided to join Gustavo in ordering a beer. During apple pie and beer, Vivian knew she liked Greg because she thought he was absolutely adorable while discussing his trials and tribulations at work. He had very similar perspectives and experiences as Vivian, and she found him to be very endearing.
 


Well, it took more than a month for these two to officially date. Greg and Vivian started hanging out every weekend after meeting. When they first hung out, Greg thought it was a date, but Vivian thought they were just hanging out as friends. Whoops! But, they were hanging out EVERY weekend.
 


The two had been playing every board game imaginable and drank a lot because they were each looking for liquid courage to make a move. It took Greg more than a month to kiss her… and he FINALLY did!

After that, Greg and Vivian hung out EVERY SINGLE DAY and Baylie eventually stopped barking at Greg when he came over. It took her about two months to completely stop. The two – actually, three – counting Baylie – quickly became inseparable.

Oh, and six months into dating, the two discovered a third commonality… Greg and Vivian have the same primary doctor in Murray Hill! But, please - no one tell the doc because it’s kinda creepy and it’d be awkward if he found out.

They moved in with each other in 2023… and now, we’re here.
