Our journey started just like any other friendship—me, him, and our forever plus one. We spent the first few months hanging out, just enjoying each others company and getting to know one another. In those early days, we saw each other every single day—whether it was grabbing a bite at Hungry Crab or catching videos of me snoring on the couch. It was simple, effortless, and full of laughs.

Then, one night, we went out with my cousin. To avoid some unwanted attention, she jokingly suggested that we pretend to be a couple. So, we did. And to our surprise, the act worked. But what we didn’t expect was that it wouldn’t end that night. It was as if the pretending didn’t feel like pretending anymore. We knew we were really close, but neither of us had imagined it turning into anything more—at least not yet.

For a long time, we believed we were just the best of friends. But then came March 14, 2022. My best friend turned to me and asked if I would be his girlfriend. It caught me completely by surprise, but deep down, I knew it was the right thing.
