Our Wedding

We were introduced in April of 2017 by Vika (Vlada's bestie and Alec's cousin). We were both several months out of previous relationships, and weren't looking for anything new. After all, Alec is a year older and was going off to college. So we at first became friends before feelings started growing. We went on a few formal dates and began to spend a lot more time together going into the summer. However as summer was reaching its peak, reality hit. We either had to become an official couple, or end things as a summer fling so there wouldn't be any pain come August. But we had already fallen in love, so the latter was no longer an option.Then came the next challenge: a long distance relationship. (Not-so)Fun Fact! We have had a long distance relationship 3 separate times! Luckily Alec was going to Marquette, which was only an hour drive and a straight shot on the highway. So Vlada visited him in Milwaukee every single Sunday of the school year. We believe if the effort to make the relationship work wasn't put in equally by both people, it would never have worked.Then, it was Vlada's turn to go off to college. Naturally, she went to Marquette.But them being reunited would only last a semester, because in the spring Alec went to go study abroad in Hong Kong for 5 months. The farthest possible destination available...No, Vlada did not visit every weekend. But she did visit for spring break and that was one of the craziest adventures to date.We moved in together during Alec's senior year and Vlada's junior year. That was when we realized that being together is where home is... as well as our super cozy corner apartment. Once again, we became long distance as Alec moved to Dallas for work upon graduation. Whilst it was easier the third time around (Vlada was extremely busy with school and Alec was getting used to adult life), there was a looming threat of how we could reunite once more. Vlada needed a job upon graduation, but was not licensed to work in the state of California, which is where Alec's job was sending him next.Luckily a miracle occurred. Alec was hired at Baird in Milwaukee, and we immediately scrapped any plans of Cali and instead got our next apartment together right on the lake. We lived there for two years with our two beautiful cats; Phoenix and Hades.And right on that lake, under a supermoon, is where Alec proposed in August of 2023.
