In summer of 2011 Daniel traveled to Fort Collins, Colorado to find a place to live for his upcoming post-doctoral position in the Department of Physics at Colorado State University. Naturally, he got a parking ticket on campus and approached Wendy in the department to get this taken care of. Immediately, Wendy thought, "oh this guy is going to be a high-maintenance pain". But putting it in the "other duties as assigned" categories she worked some magic and got the parking ticket taken care of.

It would be a little over two years later when Wendy was invited by some mutual friends in the department to Daniel's birthday dinner and drinks. Needless to say, Daniel's sparkly brown eyes and corny sense of humor made an impression...but she still remembered that parking ticket.

The relationship grew slowly and through the beauty of Colorado's mountains they got to know each other without the internet, cell service, and sometimes rationed water. Hiking a few 14,000-foot mountains there were blisters, tears, laughter and lots of supporting each other. Oh, and peanut butter.

Through the challenges they persevered and got stronger; together. Usually with a few funny stories or dramatic events!

Daniel got his dream job in Houston and Wendy went along for the ride. While Houston may not be the top location, the University of Houston has been a great place for both of them. Their community here has embraced them, and they are living their best life and trying to soak up all things Houston.

So, it's time for a celebration of this next journey! They are so excited for those closest to them to help celebrate the promises they will profess to each other.
