Disguised as a family game night, he proposed at home in front of our closest family on September 22, 2018. We had been talking about marriage, and when he asked how I wanted to be proposed to, I said something like, "Intimate, but in front of people. Not a lot of people, just like my family. Lowkey, but I want it to be special. And I want it to be caught on camera. But I really want to be surprised."
Now if you know Orlando, you know he can't hold water. And if you know me, you know I'm nosey and don't really like surprises. I knew Orlando would go to my family for their blessing, so I would call my mom and beg her to let me know when/if he came to her. Once I got suspicious, I was relentless. But she kept her poker face, calling me crazy, and telling me I needed to chill.
I even called my granny at one point, she tried to give me a hint, but at that point, I had convinced myself I was crazy (like that one time he told me he had a surprise for me and I just knew it was about to happen...except it turned out to be just a caramel apple. I know...I'M CRAZY). But he kept it all a secret, and it was perfect!
We ordered food, bought a few new board games, everything seemed normal. In the middle of fussing at my mom about not adding me to her apple music family group, the music stops, and then Kem's "Share My Life" starts playing. Orlando walks into the living room, and starts talking, and then I realize, "Oh S**T! It's happening!"
I IMMEDIATELY start bawling. He finishes his speech, gets down on one knee, and asks me to marry him. I of course say yes. He puts the ice-I mean-ring on my finger. At this point we're both crying.
It was everything I wanted my proposal to be. Intimate, special, a surprise, and us.
Our family recorded it and took pics...Yall, I had a beer bottle in my hand the whole time, smh.
