I knew it from the moment I saw her smile. I knew it from the moment I caught myself smiling uncontrollably every time she crossed my mind. I knew it from that time when I saw something beautiful I thought of her. I knew it! It has always been her.

Even today, it still feels like yesterday when we met. What I can’t forget is those shiny beautiful eyes and innocent face. Being a guy I could not read the signs, I was blind and could not see true love in her eyes. I remember when I started working in Limpopo I would come back home to a lonely place. For someone who studied far from home, all my varsity friends were far away, while I didn’t have a lot around Limpopo anymore. I have always been that child with good listening skills especially to elders. A lot of times I would hear elders saying “focus on your school work and stay away from girls” it was that time when I realized that I was done with school. So what now? I really felt like it was time I met someone, but still didn’t know how and where I’m going to meet that person. I remember praying about it once and I let it go. Fast forward, months passed by, my focus was on graduations and I didn’t dwell much into it.

I remember coming back from my graduations, I had forgotten about the prayer I once made months back, there were a group of students who came to my workplace for their experiential learning. Little did I know that in that group there was my future wife🫶🏼. It happened that her group was allocated to work at the same department I was working. She was very humble and down to earth. She was very innocent and shy. Everytime she would laugh and smile looking away. I didn’t pay too much attention to the signs but deep down I knew that there was something special about her.

To be honest I was also a shy guy while I also believed in knowing the person before asking them out. Two days passed by after we first met. Third day I took courage and asked for her contacts. We exchanged contacts. Later on I was on social media searching for her, I already knew that something was going on when I found myself searching for her on social media. She was all I was thinking about most of the time🥹. We followed each other on instagram same day, liked all her pictures just to show her I’m watching, she did the same.🙈

Later I texted her to check how she traveled back to school, that’s when we started talking and I was a gone guy!🥹 Every morning , tea break, lunch time and evening I was on my phone. If you know young love you would know what I’m talking about. One thing led to another, all of a sudden I couldn’t survive a break at work without talking to her. Even when she was busy with her exams she was all I thought of and who I prayed for. Leah and I share a lot of good memories from that first moment we met which is not easy to summarise on a text but that’s in short how we met. From that moment, being with Leah has been like a dream I never want to wake up from and the best part of it is that it’s actually not a dream, our love is real and I will continue to love her everyday.
