Our journey began on the Saturday evening of March 19th, 2022. At the time, Will was living in New York City but had traveled to Austin to interview for and accept a promotion and transfer. Meanwhile, Caroline was already living in Austin with her bridesmaid Meagan Johnson, who, as fate would have it, was dating Will’s groomsman, Darroch Koel.

That Saturday night, Meagan and Darroch decided it was time for us to meet, and what better setting than a Mt. Joy concert at Lady Bird Lake? Little did we know that night would change our lives forever.

They say, "When you know, you know," and for us, that feeling was undeniable. We spent the evening talking, sharing stories about our families, and laughing—mostly at Will’s attempts to win Caroline over with his goofy jokes. By the end of the night, we exchanged phone numbers, knowing that in just two weeks, Will would be back in Austin for good. Little did we realize those were the last two weeks we would ever call ourselves single.

When Will returned, our relationship officially began with a first date that was delightfully untraditional—a dive bar with wings, beer, and a KU basketball victory in the national championship. From that moment, we never looked back.

The past few years have been filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures. Whether we’re cooking together, exploring new places, shopping (a mutual favorite), or chasing after our crazy dog Millie, every moment has been a testament to our unconditional and everlasting love for one another.

If we tried to write our story any better, we couldn’t—it’s been perfect for us.
