Will and Gabrielle have known each other most of their lives and have always been life long friends. They initially met through the National Junior Angus Association where they both grew up showing Angus cattle. They competed against each other both inside and outside of the show ring for years. Into their early college years, the competitive nature of these two continued. For two years, both Will and Gabrielle attended Illinois colleges where they competed on the livestock judging teams and ran into each other often.

Into their 20's, the two were hundreds of miles apart as they both completed their Bachelor's Degrees and started their careers. They ultimately reconnected while discussing their travel plans to celebrate a friend's wedding in Louisiana. Following the weekend in Louisiana, the two stayed in constant contact. For a first formal date, Will invited Gabrielle to spend a weekend with him in Georgia celebrating another friend's wedding. After that weekend together in Georgia, the two have been inseparable since.
