Hai Chanoon Gohn Gomloh

Groom's Parade. Family and friends are encouraged to join Will in an outdoor parade with gifts to announce that he means to marry his Queen, Tina.

Bang Chhat Madaiy

Now that the bride and groom are mature they are able to express gratitude to their parents and take on the role of shielding and protecting their parents. An umbrella is held over the brides mother to symbolize the reversal of roles.

Caht Sah

Hair Cut. To prepare Will and Tina for marriage their hair is "cut" to signify a fresh start as husband and wife. Family and friends symbolically cleanse the Bride and Groom of their past.

Sompeah Ptem

Knot Tying. The Bride and Groom will sit close to each other and put their hands on a pillow. Family and friends give their blessing and wishes of health, happiness and prosperity by tying the wrists of the bride and groom. The red or gold strings are symbolic of two people coming together and their everlasting love. This ceremony concludes with family and friends showering the newlyweds with palm flower seeds, 'pka slah'.

Bongvul Pbopul

Seven Circles. The groom and the bride are blessed by the married couples that are present at the ceremony. The bride and groom will sit in the middle of a circle surrounded by married couples. Three candles are passed clockwise around the circle, as the sacred flame is rotated seven times around the new couple. Family members who receive the candle motion their hands over the flame to guide the smoke of the sacred flame over the bride and groom. The smoke of the sacred flame will protect them from all evils. This represents the passing of blessings to the newlyweds.
