We can no longer accommodate early check in or late check out. We tried it and found it to be too disruptive to our operation. The locks, the cleaners and our maintenance personnel all work on an automated schedules based on our published check-in time and check out times. Sorry :(

This property has a front doorbell camera that is remotely viewable and records upon seeing motion. The camera is not actively monitored but acts as a safety device to track and record who enters and exits the home should there ever be an issue. The camera covers the immediate area outside the front door of the house. This camera is very conspicuous and is the only camera located at this property.

The area:

Centrally located on the east side just a short drive to downtown, the house is situated in an attractive residential neighborhood on a cul de sac street. It has easy access to main commercial areas along Tanque Verde, Speedway and Broadway, where you’ll find convenient local restaurants, stores, groceries and various services. It is a 1-mile walk to the massive Udall Park, with 12 outdoor public pickleball courts (we provide a set of 4 paddles and balls for guest use), playing fields and a large swimming pool. Nearby recreation areas Sabino Canyon, Saguaro National Park East and the 50-mile Loop cycling/pedestrian path are a short drive.

The space

The home is light red brick with mature desert landscaping, including a huge Aleppo Pine in the front yard. The pool and hot tub are available for guest use. The hot tub is available year round, but we do not heat the pool, so it is not pleasant to swim in from November-March. Most of our energy needs are supplied by new solar panels on the roof of the house. We plan on making our space more sustainable in the future through water harvesting. We are passionate about creating a sustainable and environmentally friendly space that is unique, comfortable, and enjoyable for our guests. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any special requests or feedback.

Guest access

Guests will have full access to the 1-bedroom apartment attached to our house. The space includes a large living room, a full kitchenette, a 3/4 bathroom, and a bedroom. Guests also have shared access to the laundry room and the backyard, which includes a swimming pool, hot tub, lounge chairs, chiminea fireplace, and picnic table.

Other things to note

Some noise can be heard between the apartment and the main house. We have a newborn baby, a bustling toddler, and my two teenage children live with us every other week. The laundry room is shared space.

The space

This a very special region of Tucson. The property is on an acre of Tucson land. The best part of the property is that it feels like the country, but is in the metropolis of Tucson. There is plenty of private parking and a separate entrance to your free standing private casita. You will have gorgeous mountain views and sunsets from the property. The large common area by the pool has benches that surround a bubbling fountain where often you will see red and yellow finch, as well as humming birds coming in for a cool dip. Sabino Canyon, Reddington Pass, Saguaro National Monument and Mt. Lemmon are easily accessible within a few minutes from this location.

Bears Path Casita is just off Catalina Highway providing easy access for cyclists, birders, and photographers.

For the birders around the world right from our back yard Gila Woodpeckers, Yellow Rumped Warblers, Cooper’s hawk, Turkey Vultures, Mockingbirds, White winged Doves, Mourning Doves, Mallard Ducks, Mexican Ducks, Lucy’s Warbler, Gamble Quails, Lesser Finch, Vermillion Flycatcher, Broad Billed Hummingbirds, House Finch, Ravens, Says Phoebe, Phainopepla, Road Runner have all been spotted.

Bicycle enthusiasts can enjoy 55 miles of riding pleasure on the “loop” designed for safe bike riding off the main streets all around the Tucson Metro area. We maintain some bikes on our property for your use while staying with us at the Casita including Mountain, Hybrid, and Beach Cruisers. While the one-acre property gives you the sense of being alone in the desert wilderness, there is a shopping area with grocery store and restaurants just half a mile away. There are 30 restaurants within three miles.

Relax with family or friends and your pet at this peaceful and private 2 bed 1 bath home.
