Love is patient... Our story dates back to late 2017 almost eight years ago. We have been dreaming, planning, and waiting for this day to come for a long time now. From friends to dating, to engaged and soon-to-be-married, we have shared many ups and downs throughout our years together. Let's take a trip down memory lane!
Willow graduated from Weyburn Comprehensive School in 2017. Already accepted into the University of Saskatchewan, she couldn't wait to fly the coop!
Connor, a new graduate from Greenall Highschool, decided to stay home while reffing, going to school at the University of Regina, and playing hockey for the Jr. B Storm.
While Connor was busy on the ice and in the classroom, Willow was looking forward to her first semester of school away from her parents' watchful eyes. She spent many nights hanging out with her high school friends, who also lived in Saskatoon, and her new roommates. Willow will still say to this day that she wasn't looking for anything when Connor came into her life.
Willow got to know her friend Jords new boyfriend Eric, and by fate, Connor happened to be in his close friend circle. They first met at a mutual friend gathering in the summer of 2017. They became friends in November 2017 and started dating on January 20th, 2018.
They spent many days apart which made the weekends they spent together so much sweeter. For the next year and a half, they traveled the distance between Regina and Saskatoon and Regina and Weyburn too many times to count! Many 'dates' were spent in the rink, Connor playing and Willow watching hockey. Unforgettable memories were made going camping in Banff, Clear Lake, and at Connor's Family Cottage. Connor even took Willow to her first NHL game, too!
Finally, in the fall of 2019 Willow decided to transfer schools to the University of Regina to finish her first degree closer to home... and Connor. Eight months later and many more mems made, the pandemic started and the lockdown separated them by distance again. With Willow in Weyburn and Connor still living at home, they reverted back to the countless Facetime calls and 'love you' texts that they were once used to.
In the spring of 2021 their fourth, and Connor's final, year of university was about to end. Still with some restrictions, they convocated from the UofR with their Bachelor of Arts. Shortly after the restrictions lifted Willow moved back to Regina.
With Connor's support, Willow entered her Elementary Education after degree program at the UofR in the summer of 2021. He also started his new job as a deputy sheriff for the Government of Saskatchewan. With work and school, they still managed to have lots of fun with family and friends, skiing, camping, and golfing. They moved in together, on November 1st, 2021. They even managed to go skiing in Fernie with friends and book an unforgettable last-minute vacation to Mexico in December of that same year!
One milestone after the next, Willow completed her BEd earning Great Distinction in the Winter of 2022. The year went by in a blink of an eye. After graduation, they took a relaxing trip to the Dominican Republic, their second tropical vacation, and certainly not the last.
From teenagers living in their parents' homes to figuring out all the things adulting, Willow and Connor wouldn't have been able to make the first five years without each other, and their families by their side.
If anyone knows Connor and Willow, they know that they love to seek new adventures together. In the summer of 2023, they headed on their summer camping vacation to Yellowstone National Park. After 10.5 hours of driving, they arrived at their remote campground. Once checked in they headed to set up their site. With the sun setting, Willow decided to set up the tent as Connor started prepping dinner. Shortly after getting done in the tent, Willow was crawling out when she noticed Connor kneeling outside of it with a beautiful ring in hand. I think you can guess what her answer was. The rest of their trip was spent celebrating their engagement after five and a half years together.
In February of 2024, Connor and Willow took off on a year-long journey to Australia, excited to explore a new country before their wedding. From snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef to camping at Uluru, their adventure was filled with unforgettable experiences. As their year abroad came to a close, they were excited to return home to their family and friends.
... and here they are, soon to celebrate one of the best days of their lives!
We can't wait to share this special moment with our closest friends and family by our side. We love you all! - W & C
