When Micah and I were first introduced to each other it was through a mutual friend, who I worked with on campus. She gave him my number and we immediately started texting and talking with each other. What was funny is that we attended the same church but never had a conversation with each other before this.
We started to talk to each other and see what things we had in common. One Friday, Micah was boothing in the Union Building on campus to promote the youth nonprofit he worked for in college, Big Brother and Big Sisters. I had a couple of hours to kill before my next class so I went and sat with him. This was one of the first times meeting, and he was such a gentleman and offered to buy me lunch. I ended up spending 3 hours with him, and we just talked about everything and anything.
The next weekend we both ended up in Colorado for various reasons. I was celebrating my Grandpa's 80th Birthday and he was visiting his grandparents in Ault, Colorado. When I mentioned when I was heading back to Laramie, he offered to drive me back to campus. On the way back to Laramie, there was not a moment of silence, we chatted about anything and everything and we even practiced our British accents!
I can remember telling my Dad in the summer of 2022 that I would probably be single for a while, pushing towards college graduation and a military deployment on the horizon.
God had other plans.
Meeting Willow was a whirlwind of joyous emotions. She entered my life and made everything around us better, offering her endless compassion for others and signature sense of humor. Her free-spirited willpower to accomplish anything, her ability to smile in any storm, and her prestigious position as the 'silliest goose around' had me falling for her before I knew what had hit me.
I found myself ring shopping earlier than I should probably admit publicly. When you see your future in someone's eyes, it is easy to be overwhelmed with grateful excitement.
Our story has only just begun, and the future is very bright.
