We meet in an online theater class at San Francisco State University during the COVID-19 pandemic. Willow saves a poem Erik wrote as a class assignment.

Willow sees Erik's halloween post on Instagram and decides to start a conversation. We hit it off and plan a date.

Our first date. We have pizza by the slice, walk though Golden Gate Park, explore the DeYoung Museum, enjoy a sweet treat at Joe's Ice Cream, and share our first kiss. The day after, Erik tells his roommate (and now groomsman) Joe that he thinks Willow might be the one.
