Willy and I met at the very start of COVID. At the time, I was working at Footlocker, and my coworker Espy kept talking about her cousin Willy. She would always say, “We have to go out so you can meet him!” But then the world shut down—literally.

During those early days of quarantine, drive-by birthday celebrations became the new normal. My mom planned one for me, and she invited Espy to swing by. What I didn’t know was that Espy would be showing up with my future husband in the car.

The day after my birthday—April 25th, 2020—Espy came by with her brother Tito and her cousin Willy. When I stepped outside, they all got out to wish me a happy birthday. Espy handed me gifts, and Willy handed me flowers and said, “Happy birthday, beautiful.” I couldn’t stop blushing—I was completely smitten. Something in me just knew he was going to change my life forever.

We exchanged numbers that day. Three years later, we had our baby boy. Five years later, here we are—getting married.
