OUR STORY

Picture of OUR STORY

Philip and Windle met in the summer of 2012, at a Will's Way charity event. That being said, only Windle remembers this meeting. Ever since then, Windle had crushed on (and even social media stalked) Philip up until their first real introduction in May of 2016. It was the summer before Philip's senior and Windle's junior year of high school.

For their first date, Philip picked Windle up (since she was not yet old enough to drive), and they went to a movie and a local restaurant called Scotty's Brewhouse. Windle was so nervous that she didn't have an appetite all week because she wanted it to work out so badly.

They made their relationship "official" about a month later, after a few more dates and late-night phone conversations. During the first year of their relationship, they went to school events like prom, a family vacation in both Michigan and Chicago, and multiple concerts together. During this time, Philip had committed to a small school in central Indiana for college. He can now admit that he changed his decision and went to Purdue because he knew that is where Windle would end up.

They made it through a year of long distance, and then Windle joined Philip at Purdue. Their shared love of the Boilermakers was just another thing that brought them closer together. Throughout the first year in college together they were able to experience so many firsts. This included Philip teaching Windle how to change a tire while it was pouring rain outside of her dorm room, Philip's first sorority events, Philip going to Arizona for the first time to meet Windle's grandparents, and Windle going to Texas for the first time to meet Philip's extended family.

The rest of their time together at Purdue moved quickly, as the pandemic shortened their second year together. Philip graduated a semester early the next year. This led to the next stint of long distance as Philip moved down to Florida for a few months following his graduation. They had one last summer together in person before Philip started his first full-time job and moved to North Carolina, and Windle began her senior year.

This lasted for ten months, during which Philip began the process of deciding when to pop the question. During Mother's Day weekend of 2022, Philip tricked Windle into thinking he would be traveling back home and arriving late at night. He really arrived around dinner time and met with her parents, Kristy and Andy, to ask for their permission (without any suspicion from Windle). For the next 3 months, everyone had to keep the secret as the countdown to the proposal began. Finally, on July 29th, Philip took Windle to dinner at their favorite restaurant, Monterrey, in Carmel. Coincidentally, this was a different restaurant in the exact location as their first date. After what felt like the longest dinner of Philip's life, he finally got the chance to ask Windle to marry him and celebrate with family and friends afterward.

Most recently, Philip and Windle found out in July of 2023 that they will be expecting their first child, a baby girl, on March 29th of 2024! They cannot wait to introduce her to everyone on their big day! With that being said, Philip and Windle are asking that all guests enjoy meeting baby Sutton from a distance, unless told otherwise beforehand. Their big day is even more special now, with their closest family and friends, and a family of their own!

Philip and Windle are counting down the days until June 1st, 2024! They feel so lucky as they have found their person so early in life. This has allowed their circle of friends and family to impact them both as individuals and as a couple. They can't imagine sharing this special day without them, as everyone has played a huge role in their love story.
