We met during our orientation week of intern year. We attended our ATLS (advanced trauma life support) course together and sat next to each other. There was instant chemistry! After that day, we were best friends and spent nearly every day together. It took about 4 weeks before we started a romantic relationship, all thanks to the Denyers' (Xane's friends from medical school).

Our co-residents in the intern call room! After we started dating, we were too nervous to tell our coresidents about our relationship so proceeded to date in secret... we did a pretty good job.

Our first romantic get-away. We went apple picking and met his mom, Shannon (Nana), and Grandma, Rosemary. On our return from Alton, we stopped at the, "The world's largest covered wagon."

Here we thought we were so sneaky. In order to hangout on nights without people knowing, we would sneak off to the 6th floor call rooms.

Christmas 2020 Xane took Ashley to meet all of his immediate family members.

Our first Disney trip and the picture we used to officially tell everyone we were together. At this point, I don't think it was much of a surprise...

Nana & Chris's wedding day. A day the Mullikans', Inmans' and Peters' were all in good health and able to party the night away. A cherished memory for us.

Our 1st Anniversary!

As you all know, we love wine. We felt very lucky to experience Napa Valley with Ashley's parents, Abby & Chris, who are wine aficionados. We now have a new appreciation of good wine.

Disney World is Ashley's favorite vacation. She loves it so much, we went back for seconds.

Second international trip --Portugal! Here Ashley was very convinced this would be the time he proposed ...

En route to Chicago we made a pit stop in Zurich. A beautiful experience.

Xane knows snowboarding and winter are Ashley's favorite activity and season so he knew proposing in Whistler, Canada would be absolutely perfect. However, he did not know how to snowboard himself. Because he refused to let Whistler be the first place he learned to snowboard, he went to a few mid-west hills to practice. He learned incredibly fast! Xane was feeling ready to propose ...

This is a pre-engagement photo! Xane was bombing blues and blacks with Ashley in Whistler, Canada. Ashley definitely brought him out of his comfort zone.

HE DID IT! After an afternoon of snowboarding, he took her to a "romantic restaurant" by Lake Green. She was surprised by a lake white-out in snow and professional photographer. It was perfect.
