Yana:
In 2021 my roommate Abby asked me to meet her cousin Josh. I said no. A couple of days later, he texted me and we went on our first date. He didn’t eat a single taco, but we talked for hours and I was astounded we had never met before, as we always seemed to be in the same places, just months off, for years. I was shocked that this blind date, turned out to be someone I immediately felt like I knew. He was funny, and kind and most importantly, he was genuine.
Josh:
At thanksgiving, my cousin told me about her roommate and said she thought we had a lot in common. She offered to give me her number and I agreed. I’d never done a blind date before and I was so nervous but so excited too! When I got to Condados, where we had agreed to meet and have dinner together, I was shocked. Not only was this girl beautiful, funny, sweet, fiery, and absolutely amazing but It also felt so natural to talk with her. It didn’t feel like I was meeting someone new, but more like I was catching up with a long lost friend.
Yana:
After a month or so, we decided to part ways. However, I couldn't stop thinking about him and reached out 8 months later. I asked him to help me move a couch into my new apartment and after he took me to the top of a parking garage because I said the sunset was pretty. I was amazed he was so quick to do something he had no idea was so important to me. On the drive home, I wrote in my journal, I think I might marry this man. The next day, we started the adventure of a lifetime.
Josh:
After long day at work, I get a text asking for help from a damsel in distress. Yana had decided to buy a couch without measuring to see if it would fit in her SMALL car. She was wondering if I’d be able to help pick it up for her, since she knew I had a little bit of a larger vehicle. I agreed, and ended up moving the couch from one side of the apartment to the other for close to an hour. It was ridiculous! Why was I doing this? And why did it make me so happy to help take care of her? After we found the right spot for the couch, we decided to go get decorations for the apartment, and ended up on top of a parking garage looking at the most beautiful sunset I had ever seen. It was such an amazing day, and the start of a great adventure.
Yana and Josh:
Since then, we've been on countless adventures, trips and rollercoasters of ups and downs. We have laughed harder, loved more and healed together. We learned more about ourselves, each other and have both grown tremendously. Two truly is better than one. We wouldn't trade any of it for the world.
Josh proposed in August 2024, two years after we first started dating.
