There are a few ways your holiday could go, depending on how you'd like to spend your time. We'll provide you with some ideas, along with key information and tips!
We would suggest landing in Toronto on the 14th or 15th leaving you with at least one full day to adjust to the time difference.
Richmond Hill, where the wedding is taking place is approximately 40km (25 miles) north of Toronto. You could chose to stay in a hotel in Toronto for the duration of your stay and opt to take a ride share (Uber/Lyft/Taxi) or stay local.
Planning on staying in Toronto?
Toronto is a diverse city with a lot going on in many different areas! You'll have easy access to trains, buses, the subway and streetcars. Here are a few blogs that will help narrow down a neighbourhood. There are a number of events throughout the summer, so be sure to check those out closer to August 2024.

Planning on staying in Richmond Hill (or surrounding area)?
Richmond Hill is a suburban city, and although public transport is available, it can sometimes be tedious and time-consuming to get around. Staying along Yonge Street will make public transportation easier, but if you are renting a car or using ride-shares, then you'll have more options.
Once we have a clearer picture of how many guests will be coming from overseas, we would be more than happy to look into group rates at nearby hotels!
Personal Recommendation for Richmond Hill
๐ซ Liberty Suites Hotel, Yonge Street (10 - 20 minute drive).
What about after?
The good news is you are not short of options. As many of you know, Canada boasts incredible lakes, and summer really is the best time to enjoy them. Without a doubt, we recommend renting a car, exploring the beautiful cottage country, and staying in a place by a lake. Muskoka, Kawartha Lakes, and Prince Edward County are all great getaway options. You could stay at a lake resort, rent a cottage, or even try an Otentik!
If you plan on staying in Toronto, you will have lots of options from day trips to Niagara falls, a visit to Toronto Island, museums and everything else the city has to offer.
If time allows it, you might even drive or take the train across Canada and fly out of Vancouver. Or maybe you'll end up in Ottawa, Quebec, or even Prince Edward Island, who knows!
Renting a car
You'll find the most affordable rates using a .ca domain! You won't need an international driving permit if you driver license is in English or French, otherwise you do. Expedia and Kayak are your typical search engines for finding rentals but when it comes to booking we typically use the vendors site.
Turo is another great options which is a car sharing app.
Other things that matter
๐ Your mobile provider may offer usage in Canada so be sure to double check. SIM cards are extortionate so we recommend using an e-sim card provider such as Airalo.
๐ Bring an adapter! Canada uses North American outlets with a voltage of 120V. Double check your appliances, especially anything hair related
๐ It will be warm. We have great weather in Toronto! If you plan on being near a lake make sure to bring warmer clothes for the cool evenings.
If you have any questions or think of anything that could be useful for you and others, please let us know! We'll be glad to incorporate it :)
