It all began in June 2022 when Jeff and Yohanan connected on the "Hinge" dating app. After exchanging messages about their faith, passions, lifestyle and hobbies, Jeff officially asked Yohanan on a date! They first met at Brickell City Center at Tacology and spent the evening having meaningful conversations about life while enjoying tacos and taking a stroll around the city. Yohanan remembers Jeffrey instantly making her blush and smile throughout the entire night. It was evident they both quickly felt a genuine connection.
At the same time, both Jeff and Yohanan were only in town for a short amount of time due to Yohanan having to eventually go back home and Jeff having to leave for a family cruise a few days after meeting each other. They both had the desire to continue getting to know one another as much as possible with the time they had. The same day Jeff returned from his trip, Yohanan was also traveling back home to Milwaukee. During his trip, Jeff had bought a few souvenirs for Yohanan to take home; the morning he arrived back to Miami, he made it his mission to take the early check out off the cruise to deliver the gifts to Yohanan's grandmother's house. Among the gifts, he delivered a card expressing his desire to know her more. This was Jeff's first step to pursue Yohanan and her heart.
After nightly FaceTime calls, online bible studies, text messages and long-distance traveling for in person dates, Jeff officially asked Yohanan to be his girlfriend on September 23, 2022. During the span of their dating season, the young couple enjoyed romantic dinners, a string of adventurous dates, and visiting friends and family in Milwaukee, WI and Hollywood, FL. Quickly, the young couple won each other's hearts. Their passion, intentionality and most importantly, faith foundation in Christ, revealed they were meant for one another; they knew they wanted to get married! Fast forward to October of 2023, Yohanan and Jeffrey began taking premarital classes with Pastor Carlos and Cassie from Reality Church in Miami. This was a huge step for the young couple as they were preparing for one day to be married. This journey was full of excitement and challenges, but the young couple was continuously supported by the love of their families, pastors, and friends.
On one of the many trips that were planned, Yohanan and her family made a trip to Miami to celebrate Yohanan's birthday, Christmas, and New Years with family and friends. Little did Yohanan know, this trip was planned by Jeff for almost half a year for their proposal. At the dawn of December 29, 2023, the day after Jeff's birthday party, the young couple and their families took a road trip to Orlando for a "family picture". This excuse was part of the plan to unite both families to the closest hot air balloon ride in Florida. The hot air balloon was an inside joke for Jeffs' fear of heights and Yohanan's curiosity on if he was ever willing to face his fears. After arriving to Orlando at 5:30am, both families met outside the parking lot of Panera. Yohanan was so confused as to what was going on, and as to why Jeff was not dressed for the occasion. Jeff then layed out the plan informing both families that our guide was going to come pick us up at 6:00am and our adventure was officially going to begin.
Soon after, Jeff had returned dressed in a suit and tie. He walked over to Yohanan's side of the car, grabs her, and ties a tie around her eyes; then guides her over to his car. Jeff then announces that their guide had finally arrived and we were off to our adventure. After a short drive and then having to wait 30 minutes in the car, Jeff told Yohanan "we're ready, let's go". Before stepping out, Jeff handed Yohanan a ring pop; that was the moment Yohanan knew Jeff was proposing. For context, early on their relationship, Yohanan told Jeff that she would marry him even if he proposed to her with a cherry ring pop. Yohanan could not believe this was really happening! After walking down a dirt path and hearing Jeff share heartfelt words, memories and the strong commitments of his love, he took Yohanans blindfold off. Yohanan saw the huge hot air balloon, a blanket with the words "Marry Me", both of their families all present and Jeff kneeling down on one knee asking " Yohanan, will you marry Me?" Immediately, Yohanan said YES!
This was a dream come true for Jeff and Yohanan; to have found love with one another and partake in the blessing of marriage. They both now live in Miami Florida and are beyond excited for their next step in marriage.
