Soon after, Yohans searched for and found Nani on Facebook, marking the beginning of their friendship. They spent hours talking about everything under the sun and “helping each other with school work.” Living far apart and without cars, their communication remained primarily through Facebook and text messages. Eventually, they both eagerly anticipated the wedding of a mutual family friend, where they finally met in person again.
Despite attending different high schools, their bond grew and they went to Nani's high school prom together in 2012 where they danced the night away!
After a year apart, they reunited in Dallas in the summer of 2013. When they met to catch up, Yohans had a surprise planned. With a bouquet of red roses, he asked his best friend to be his girlfriend, marking the start of their relationship.
Their official first date was on July 6, 2013 where Yohans took Nani to III Forks Restaurant. When asked if they were celebrating something he replied “our anniversary”
They took their first trip together to Cancun in August 2013. They fell in love with traveling and beach destinations.
Despite the challenges of a long-distant relationship, Yohans and Nani always found their way back to each other. They stayed committed to being best friends and grow together. Over the years, they made many memories and traditions.
Fast forward, Yohans surprised Nani during a trip she took with her cousin to Cabo, Mexico. Despite rough weather on a sunset cruise, Yohans asked his longtime best friend and girlfriend to marry him on June 15, 2024 and she said YES!
Yohans and Nani always wanted a destination wedding where they will able to indulge in paradise with those special to them so it is no surprise that they chose to return to Cabo, where they got engaged, to say “I DO!”
