Matt and I met in October 2011 at the "Rockridge Out & About" neighborhood fair a day that would unknowingly change both of our lives forever.
I was out walking little Lola when I suddenly remembered that a friend, who managed a property, had told me he would be showing it that day. On a whim, Lola and I decided to stop by.
The moment I stepped inside, there he was... Matt, sitting on the couch, casually keeping an eye on the open house. He was still living there, but his time in that space was coming to an end. Our eyes met, and just like that, something shifted in the air. I got completely mesmerized by his beautiful blue eyes. I swear, I heard angels sing! No, really! it was one of those moments where time slows, and the world fades away. Love at first sight? Maybe... Fate? Most definitely.
We exchanged a few words, small pleasantries that now seem insignificant compared to what was unfolding between us. After a short while, Lola and I left to continue wandering the fair. What I didn’t know then was that after I walked away, Matt stepped outside, scanning the sea of people, hoping to find me again. But that day, destiny had other plans and we wouldn’t cross paths again.
Months passed, and life carried on, but as if the universe refused to let us be strangers, our paths crossed once more. While searching for a new job, my friend sent me to meet Matt and his partner. At just the right moment, I walked into his life again, this time, professionally. I got hired and started working for ABI Industries. But don’t think we fell into each other’s arms right away. Oh no, our love was patient, waiting for the perfect time to bloom. For years, we were simply colleagues, acquaintances, until everything changed.
One evening, as I was out walking Lola, fate worked its magic again. Out of nowhere, there he was. He smiled, said "Hi," and in that moment, something felt different. We talked, catching up like no time had passed. He mentioned he was on his way to buy something for dinner but then paused, looked at me, and asked, "How about going out to dinner with me instead?"
That night, over dinner, something stirred in our hearts. When he walked me home, he kissed my cheek at the door, a simple, gentle gesture, yet it left me with a warmth I had never felt before. It was the beginning of something beautiful.
Since that night, our story has been written in moments both big and small, adventures that have shaped us, challenges that have strengthened us, and above all, a love that has only grown deeper with time.
What started as a chance encounter at a neighborhood fair became the greatest love story of my life.
And I wouldn’t change a single page of it!
