Riley’s first day at Abilene just so happened to fall on my birthday — December 8, 2024. Little did I know, she would become the greatest gift I’ve ever received outside the grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. “I can’t date my co-worker… right?” I asked, nervously fidgeting with my child-sized putter. It was December 29th, and I was playing mini golf with my friend John Stevens. What began as a simple guys’ night turned into a full-on monologue about how incredible Riley Macisak was. John finally stopped me mid-rant with some wise (and very familiar) advice: “Just do it.” Fast forward to January 6th, 2025. I was driving home from Costco, grinning ear to ear because Riley and I had been texting all day. I remembered all that “ask her out face to face” advice everyone gives. Great idea in theory—except Riley was in Athens, and patience has never been my strong suit. After sitting outside my house for a few minutes, I finally sent the message: “Can I give you a call really quick?” It was 6:57 p.m. Her reply came fast: “Yeah!” Somehow, through thirty seconds of nervous rambling, I managed to ask if I could take her out and get to know her outside of work. After a long pause, she said yes. I’m not sure my feet touched the ground after that—I celebrated in my backyard like I’d just won the Super Bowl. By January 20th, we were officially dating. And even though it felt crazy to admit so soon, I knew there was no one else I’d rather do life with. She was kind, thoughtful, adventurous, devoted to Jesus, and surrendered to a lifetime of ministry. She was—and still is—beautiful in every way. On October 3rd, 2025, I proposed on the dock of the property I’m currently renting—a spot she loved and one that will always mark the start of our future together. The original plan didn’t stay a secret long (turns out I have a big mouth), but the moment was still perfect. Now, I’m counting down the days until February 14th, when I’ll watch her walk down the aisle at Pine Knoll Farms. And I’ll cry—no use pretending otherwise—because I’ll know I’ve struck gold, and that Jesus has provided the wife I’ve always prayed for. I used to think the phrase “when you know, you know” sounded cliché. But maybe it just needed a little tweaking. “When you know what you’re looking for, you know when you’ve found it.” And I can say with full confidence— I’ve found my wife. &lt;3 Zach
