They technically met November 20th, 2014, through the magic that is online dating, first spending a few weeks getting to know one another through countless messages. Tyffani was the more clever of the two from the get-go, obtaining Zach’s number through the proposition “If I can guess the first three digits, you have to give me your number.” Simple Zach wished her luck, never once considering area codes are part of the phone number and that she had a 50/50 shot here in Denver. He was therefore speechless when she came back with “303…” Regardless, Tyffani was left impressed with Zach’s willingness to entertain and discuss even the smallest of topics and questions. She once asked him, “what’s your best feature?” It was only obvious after the fact (according to him) that she was looking for some all-encompassing personality trait. Zach’s meathead response? “Umm, my arms?” As stated, she was the more clever. He would eventually recover.
A short time later, their first date took place December 6th around the outdoor firepit at Kona Grill (yes, in December) and lasted for hours. The first time Tyffani had him over, she displayed what he assumed was her comfort in him by eventually changing into her comfy sweats, and singing songs to her cats as if he wasn’t even there. He did not run! He found it endearing.
Though the relationship would continue to blossom from there, it had its bumps in the road. Most notably when they parted ways in 2019. The madness that was 2020 though brought an unexpected clarity in life’s priorities. In January of ’21, Zach helped Tyffani and the cats return from an extended stay in Montana following the shutdown, and amidst the 15-hour drive they discussed life, goals, dreams, and what they ultimately could and could not live without. And for them, that was each other.
Fast forward to April 9th, 2023 and after all of the ups and downs, life changes, dates, movies, baseball games, concerts, pets, and endless laughs, Zach made the best decision of his life and proposed. The responses were equal parts “Congratulations!” and “It’s about damn time!”, but he’s just happy to call her his.
