We went on our first date together going mini-golfing with a group of friends! Zach and Katheryn got to know one another as they worked together as lifeguards at the pool.

Even with Zach's bleached hair for swimming, we continued to date throughout high school, going to homecoming, prom, and formals together.

Katheryn graduated high school and attended Wartburg College. Zach made many visits to Wartburg, where they would often hang out with friends, try new restaurants in the area, spend quality time together, and eat breakfast at Village Inn on Sunday mornings.

Zach graduated high school and attended Coe College. Katheryn also made many visits down to Cedar Rapids, where she would watch Zach swim, hang out with friends, and eat breakfast at Riley's on Sunday mornings.

We enjoyed many summer adventures, going kayaking, spending time time with family, traveling to Guttenberg, and taking in the sun!

We traveled to Galena for our annual Christmas celebration. Zach was planning on proposing to Katheryn in less than a week :)

In the midst of a blizzard, Zach proposed on his parent's land, north of Mount Vernon. Katheryn was totally surprised! While Zach spent the day stringing lights in negative temps (we have the best family and friends for helping), Katheryn stayed blissfully unaware indoors, baking cookies :)

We traveled to Greece, Italy, Austria & Germany for the month of May. We enjoyed many choir concerts, beautiful sites, fantastic food, and plenty of beer!

In May, Zach graduated from Coe College and Katheryn from Wartburg College!

Zach is teaching at Lisbon High School as a science teacher this year! Meanwhile, Katheryn is attending PA school at the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa.
