There are over 70+ miles of trails covering the island! We recommend renting a bike in town, and traveling the 8 mile perimeter path surrounding the island to take in some of the natural beauty that Michigan has to offer. If you're feeling more adventurous, head up into the island for more paths and history. Some highlights if you've never been to Mackinac include Arch Rock, Fort Holmes, Sugar Loaf, Devils Kitchen, or an old girl scout favorite.... you can search for the crack in the island.
Many of you have probably heard us talk about some of our favorite places to eat or just go for a drink on Mackinac Island. Some of our favorites include The Pink Pony, The Gate House, Cupola Bar, The Ice House, and Mighty Mac Burgers.
Visit Michigans first state park! Here you'll be able to see canon and rifle firings, and learn about the military history that took place on Mackinac Island.
Check out some of the fun local owned shops along Main Street, and don’t forget to sample some of the fresh fudge. Our favorite shop is Joann’s, but more specifically the shop located across from the Shepler’s ferry dock. If looking for a fun free activity, try sampling each shop yourself to determine your favorite! But be warned, as a scout Robin and her friends collected almost an entire slice (a 1/4 lbs) of fudge in the process of doing this so you might want to space this activity out.
Experience the History and Charm of Mackinac on your narrated carriage tour of the island!
