Q + A

What is the dress code?

Formal/Black-tie optional. Dinner jacket and/or tie is recommended for men. A long evening gown or cocktail dress is recommended for women.

What to expect at a Catholic wedding?

The Sacrament of Marriage will take place during the Mass. This includes readings from the bible, a homily (or sermon) from the priest, the consecration and distribution of the Eucharist, as well as the marriage blessing. Worship aides with the songs, prayers, responses, etc. will be provided so everyone can follow along. A typical Catholic Mass is an hour long, expect the ceremony to take at least the same amount of time.

Are kids welcome?

Yes! We'll have our nieces and nephews in attendance, and any other kids are welcome. If your children are coming, make sure to mark their initials as well on the RSVP so we can make sure to include meals for them! For Mass, feel free to bring soft and/or quiet toys or snacks to keep them occupied. There is also space at the entry of the church if you need to excuse yourself and your child. At the reception, we will have a separate room available if children need to take a nap or play with other kids. We will have a few trusted adults in the room all night if your child needs a break while you have fun at the reception. If you'd rather have a night out and need a babysitter, feel free to reach out if you need recommendations.

How to choose my hotel?

If you're coming from out of town and need a hotel, we have room blocks at two hotels. If you're planning to hit the bars, walk to restaurants, and check out downtown Boise while you're here, we'd recommend The Sparrow. This hotel is about a mile from St. John's Cathedral, where the ceremony will be held. If you would prefer a quieter hotel that is near Eagle and Meridian, we'd recommend the Homewood Suites. This hotel is about 3 miles from Chateau des Fleurs, the reception venue. See the Accommodations tab for more information on the hotels. There are various shuttle services for guests; for more information on transportation options at each hotel, see the Transportation tab.

What are the venue addresses?

Wedding Ceremony: St. John's Cathedral 807 N 8th St Boise, ID 83702 Reception Hall: Chateau des Fleurs 176 S Rosebud Ln Eagle, ID 83616

Is parking available at both locations?

Yes, both the Cathedral and the reception hall have ample parking.

Will the wedding be inside or outside?

Both the ceremony and the reception will be indoors. No need to worry about your stiletto heels getting stuck in grass. Though, the cocktail hour will be on an outdoor patio and we do recommend bringing a jacket if you get cold easily.

What should I expect for weather in Boise?

May in Boise is beautiful with average temperatures between 50-70 degrees, though rain is always a possibility. Make sure to check the weather a few days before you leave!

What should I expect for dinner?

We will be having a plated dinner, so be sure to mark the initials of each guest next to their protein choice on your RSVP. The "Veg" option is our vegetarian option, if you require a vegan meal, please note vegan next to your initials. Also, if you intend to bring children, please write "Kid" and mark their initials next to it. All meals will include a salad to start. All adult meals will be gluten free, and we will also have gluten free cake available for dessert.

Will there be an open bar?

We will have a hosted bar! No outside liquor will be allowed.

Where should we send/bring our gifts?

Feel free to send your gifts directly to our house, especially if they're big or heavy. If you have a card or smaller gift, we will have a gift table at the reception.

What is the itinerary for the wedding?

The wedding ceremony will begin at 1:00pm at St. John's Cathedral. We recommend you arrive 15 minutes early so you can get situated and chat with other guests before the wedding starts. Following the ceremony, the reception will be held at Chateau des Fleurs. There will be a cocktail hour as guests arrive at the reception hall beginning at 3:30, while the wedding party takes pictures. Dinner will be served at 5:00pm, followed by dancing and dessert.

Can I take pictures at the wedding?

We will have a paid photographer at the ceremony and reception. Please refrain from using your phone during the ceremony. Cell phones should be silenced or turned off during the Mass. Feel free to take photos and videos at the reception. We will have a Shared Google Drive if you'd like to share pictures with us.

How do I fill out my RSVP card?

Please write the names of the people who will be attending on the main line, next to the "M", and mark "Accepts". If you cannot make it, please mark "Declines". The "M" traditionally begins the formal title of Mr, Mrs, Ms, etc. but you can fill it out as formally or informally as you want! Make sure to mark each guest's initials next to their choice of protein. If your kids are coming, make sure to include them too! If they would like a kid's meal, write in "Kids" and mark their initials next to it.
