Our Wedding

Pictured above: An early photo together, on a date at The Hotel Hershey~Our couple first locked eyes during a beautiful summer sunset in the "Sweetest Place on Earth"; Hershey, PA. But by that time, they could hardly be called strangers. They learned all about each other far before that special day in August.Steven, dedicated film-lover and avid writer, had just finished his BS in Civil Engineering at Morgan State University. A full-ride scholarship meant more time in books than for dates. Though he always kept a light in his heart for a special girl that may come his way…Zari was moving to Hershey, PA with dreams to become a neuroscientist. The Biomedical Sciences doctoral program at Penn State College of Medicine joined her long list of passions: music, community service, event planning. Yet, her heart was open for one more passion that might lighten the load……And he would be needed soon, because Zari didn’t know how to patch the freshly-minted hole in her new apartment ceiling. Thankfully, a young man she met on a mobile dating app offered to make the drive up. A couple of weeks carried the two from sending texts, to long phone calls, to patching holes in apartment walls, to sharing sunsets.You are formally welcomed to be a part of the next steps in their history.

Fun Fact: This is Zari's parents' (Shelia and Greg) favorite hotel when coming to visit her during her time in Hershey. :) Room block closes Friday May 15th, 2026. Harrisburg Amtrak is a 10 minute walk from our ceremony location, and a less than 15 minute drive from wedding block hotels. Direct route from Philadelphia. Extensions to NYC, Baltimore, Washington DC and points south. Uber and Lyft available.

Driving to the wedding? Both wedding hotels (including reception hotel) are suburban and have ample, free parking. Easy access to restaurants, gas stations, and entertainment. The ceremony is urban, in the heart of Downtown Harrisburg, therefore it involves metered, street parking (albeit, it is a very small downtown area, and is not intense compared to larger metropolitans like Baltimore, Philadelphia, DC, etc.) Please go to https://parkharrisburg.com/ for more info. Out of town guests and family: Mother of the Bride, Shelia Russell McCullers, is working on group day of transportation solutions from the hotels to the ceremony for your convenience. Dress code is summertime cocktail or formal attire. Wedding colors are royal purple, white and gold. You are welcome to incorporate a shade of purple in your attire, but it is not mandatory. Q: To be clear...do I need to wear purple or a particular color for the wedding?A: No, you do not need to wear purple. Purple is my favorite color, and will be incorporated in the wedding - but wedding guests DO NOT need to wear purple unless specifically notified. You are welcome to wear purple if you would like, but it is NOT REQUIRED. You may wear colors of your choosing, as long as it is summertime cocktail/formal attire.
