Zipporah: So how much time do we have to tell this story—short version or long? Scott: We’ve got time. Let’s tell the long one. Go ahead and kick it off. Zipporah: Alright, here goes! In spring 2024, I (Zipporah) was working weekends as a Concierge at an apartment building in Ballston, Arlington. I loved chatting with residents, and one of my favorites was the vibrant owner of a mobile coffee shop that sat right outside the building. The coffee shop was always buzzing, and one of its loyal customers was none other than Scott Amankwatia. One day, the coffee shop owner approached me and asked, “Hey Z, are you open to meeting someone new?” I said, “Sure, why not?” not knowing who I’d be meeting soon. A few weeks later, on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, I saw him—our matchmaker standing with a handsome, chocolate guy at the front door. Once I wrapped up with residents, they came over. “Zipporah, meet Scott. Scott, meet Zipporah. Get to know each other—I’ve done my job,” said our matchmaker before walking off. Literally—he left us there! Scott and I talked for about 20 minutes, connecting on everything from family to faith. Before he left, I asked if I could give him my number. He lit up and said, “Yes! I’d love to take you out on a date.” Blushes—our first date was at Jeni’s Ice Cream in Old Town Alexandria, and it was oh, so beautiful. Since then, we’ve grown incredibly close—sharing life’s highs and lows, showing up for each other, and becoming best friends. We’re so thankful to God for the grace and beauty of this journey.
