We met on a cold October night at Fellowship Midtown’s YA night.
A couple months before we met, one of my sweet friends, Madison, had asked me what my type was. I replied laughingly saying “redheads”. Madison then immediately thought of a redhead she had done Downline with and thought we would hit it off.
And so, soon enough, one Tuesday night at YA as I was about to leave, Madison came over and said “it’s time for you to meet Ben”. I was so nervous and thought of any excuse not to meet him which included “ahhh he’s not very cute, and this is awkward”. Madison sadly left and figured nothing would happen.
But then, as I was walking out I stopped to talk to another friend and suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder and was met eye to eye with a cute blue-eyed redhead. He was so cute! I couldn’t stop smiling as he talked to me, and I was obsessed with his perfect smile too!!!
After 10 minutes of conversation Ben asked “would you like to get coffee sometime?” and I awkwardly reminded him of a meme saying “are you trying to do that-can I get cho numba?- move?”. Ben laughed out of pity and got my number.
He texted me that same night and made a plan to meet for coffee at Mylo. A week later we met at Mylo for our first date and spent hours talking & also ended up getting dinner right next door at El Mezcal (where I snapped this pic to remember how cute he was 🥰).
Not only was he handsome, but more than anything, I quickly fell in love with the way he would talk about what the Lord had accomplished in his life & how He was still working in his heart. Serving the Lord with eagerness, showing kindness to his friends and people around him, making me laugh until I snort, devoting time in Scripture and praying for our relationship were just some of the qualities & values that made me fall in love with him more and more each day.
I would’ve never thought a couple months later I’d end up getting engaged to him at the same place we had our first date. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I love you so much Ben! 🤍
