Zoe and Joshua met mainly through mutual friends when Zoe was a sophomore and Joshua was a freshman at Drake University. She was showing a mutual friend around the sophomore dorms and Joshua tagged along. The two would then see each other all the time at frat parties, and at Kappa Psi functions over the next couple of years. Zoe definitely had a bit of a crush on Joshua, but he was not totally feeling it at the time

Once COVID hit and everything was on lockdown, Zoe soon found herself hanging out at Joshua’s house almost every single day. The two worked as hospital pharmacy interns and it just made sense to quarantine together, right? The two would order takeout all the time and bonded over their love of storm chasing videos.

June 14, 2020: The two double dates with their close friends, Nick and Barret, at the Iowa Tap Room. On the drive home, Zoe told Barret all about that this time hanging out with Josh felt different and that there was a spark. Later that evening, Josh asked Zoe to be his girlfriend!

Over the next 3 years, Zoe and Joshua had the best of adventures. This included trips to Colorado, Florida, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. While Zoe did most of her last year of pharmacy school out of state and away from Joshua, they FaceTimed almost every single night and it made long distance easy. Once the two graduated from pharmacy school, they moved to Spokane, Washington so Zoe could start residency. The two adopted a cat, Olive to accompany Zoe’s other cat, Raisin.

Zoe was highly suspicious that Joshua was going to propose soon. She liked to poke a little fun that she was ready for a proposal, and joked that she would say yes if he proposed with a Ring Pop.

On May 13, 2023, Joshua took Zoe to a lantern festival in Post Falls, Idaho. Zoe’s best friend Barret was in town visiting, and she knew something was up. Once the sun set, everyone lit up and released thousands of lanterns into the sky. Josh got Zoe’s attention and showed her a ring box that he 3D printed himself in the shape of a Ring Pop, and right then and there asked Zoe to marry him!
