Origin Story

Picture of Origin Story

Unbeknownst to Henry and Zoë, they likely crossed paths many times before ever meeting. They both lived on Goodrich Ave in Saint Paul, Henry used to bike past Zoë's later apartment all the time on St. Clair Ave, and they both frequented the Caribou Coffee on Grand and Oxford. Luckily for the both of them, they finally did meet on a cold September day at Dual Citizen Brewing Company in 2018. Unlucky for them, Zoë had recently moved to Seattle. This small detail didn't deter them from deciding long distance was a fun and easy thing to do though. Over the next year and a half, Henry visited Zoë, Zoë visited Henry, they met up in Peru, Mexico, and Canada, but long distance is not for the faint of heart, so after much consideration, Henry made the bold step to move to Seattle...in March 2020.

The world shut down and Henry moved into Zoë's 400sq/ft studio apartment with her dog and her cat. They worked remotely from the couch together all day, and then hung out on the same couch after work. Rinse repeat for fifteen months. They finally moved into a two-bedroom apartment in May of 2021 and have thoroughly enjoyed not being able to physically see one another at all times! Some mystery is good! The two years that followed have been filled with many camping trips, a European tour, trips to the cabin in Wisconsin, boxing classes, countless visits to the worst dog parks in Seattle (by Sirius' demand!), and many many hikes.

After nearly five years together, Henry decided to propose to Zoë. After carefully selecting a ring (with a helping hand from Cassie, Zoë's sister), and making a picture book that celebrated their dog Sirius and his many adventures around Seattle, he proposed in Volunteer Park on April 28, 2023. He was thrilled when Zoë said yes!

We can't wait to celebrate with you all and want to acknowledge how meaningful the support that everyone has given both of us throughout our lives has been. We're so excited to see you all in Seattle!
