What is there to do around Missoula?

It depends what you want to do! For city activities, eateries, and brewery reccomendations, please see our "Things To-Do" page. For nature lovers, take a quick hike up the M, the L, Bayer Overlook, or Waterworks trailheads for an amazing view of the valley. Rattlesnake Canyon is a great option for bikers and hikers. Travel 1-2 hours West and there are several hot springs! These range from unmanaged hike-in National Forest Service pools, including Jerry Johnson and Weir Creek hot springs, as well as the privately operated Lolo Hotsprings. For the mountain-minded, Glacier National Park can be drivable from Missoula as a day trip. Yellowstone National Park is 6 hrs South-east and is done best as a three-day trip.

Where is the closest airport?

Missoula has its own airport! The most relevant year-round direct flight cities for our guests include: Seattle (Alaska Air), Minneapolis (Delta), and Phoenix/Mesa (Allegiant). For other year-round or seasonal options please see: https://flymissoula.com/airlines-destinations.

Can I get there by Amtrak?

Kind of! We recommend traveling the Amtrak Empire Builder line to Whitefish, MT, about 2 hrs north of Missoula. From there you may opt to fly or rent a car to finish your journey.

What are my car rental options?

Please see the Missoula airport website for rental car options. Uber is also a popular mode of transport in Missoula. https://flymissoula.com/rental-cars.
